The Blender Foundation and online developer community are proud to present the releases of Blender 2.79 and 2.8.

Blender 2.79 brings the long awaited Cycles Denoising feature, PBR Shader support for Principled BSDF, a new Light Path Expressions editor, a new video sequence editor strip cutting tool, support for high bit depth EXR, improved Alembic support, and much more.

2.8 continues the journey started with the 2.79 release, bringing significant improvements to EEVEE, Cycles, sculpt, VR, animation, modeling, UV editing and so much more.

Highlights

Cycles Denoising

The Cycles render engine now has a built-in denoising feature, which can significantly reduce render times for noisy images.

PBR Shader for Principled BSDF

The Principled BSDF shader now supports PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows, making it easier to create realistic materials.

Light Path Expressions Editor

The new Light Path Expressions editor makes it easy to create and edit complex light path expressions, which can be used for advanced rendering effects such as caustics and global illumination.

Video Sequence Editor Strip Cutting Tool

The Video Sequence Editor has a new strip cutting tool, which makes it easy to split video clips into multiple strips.

Support for High Bit Depth EXR

Blender now supports high bit depth EXR files, which can be used to create high quality images for print and web.

Improved Alembic Support

Alembic files can now be imported and exported with better control over object and particle data.

And much more!

For a complete list of changes, see the release notes.

As always, a huge thanks to all the contributors who worked on this release.

Q: Where is the bool tool in Blender?

A: The bool tool is located in the left-hand toolbar in Blender.

Q: How do I use Boolean in Blender?

A: There are a few ways to use Boolean in Blender. The most common way is to use the Boolean Modifier. To use the Boolean Modifier, select the object you want to use as the cutter, and then add a Boolean Modifier to the object you want to cut. In the Boolean Modifier options, select the cutter object, and then choose the operation you want to perform. The two most common operations are Union and Difference. Union will cut out the shape of the cutter object from the object you are cutting, while Difference will cut out everything except the shape of the cutter object.

Q: Can you Boolean text in Blender?

A: There is no built-in functionality to boolean text in Blender. However, there are a few ways to achieve a similar result.

One way is to use the boolean modifier. This will allow you to boolean two objects together. However, the objects must be solid objects, so if your text is not solid, you will need to convert it to a mesh first.

Another way is to use the knife tool. This will allow you to cut holes in objects. You can use this to cut out the shape of your text from another object.

Q: What is Boolean modifier in Blender?

A: Boolean modifier is a modifier in Blender that lets you perform boolean operations on meshes. Boolean operations are operations that take two meshes and combine them together using a set of rules.
